We don’t just create the highest quality packaging products – we’re committed to minimising our environmental footprint in the process. We know the importance of sustainable industry and we’ve taken responsibility for our impact by leading the way in adopting industry best practice environmentally sustainable standards. Offering sustainable packaging is one of the ways we can do this.
This is why our packaging is compostable.
Biodegradable and compostable forms of packaging are widely accepted as being the most environmentally-friendly by industry standards. However, compostable goes one better than biodegradable packaging. Here’s why:
Biodegradable packaging = capable of being broken down by bacteria or other living organisms
It sounds like a solid option until you consider what your packaging breaks down into and how long the process takes. In some cases, what remains can be harmful to the environment. And with no definitive time frame under this guideline, many packaging materials classified as biodegradable can slip through the environmentally-friendly loophole simply because they classify as being able to break down, no matter how many years it takes.

The standards for packaging being classified as compostable are more concrete. Once packaging is discarded within a compost environment, to be classed as commercially compostable it must break down within a period of 90 days. What this means is that the packaging has gone through a full life cycle and is now ready to regenerate. No hidden nasties broken down with nowhere to go, instead our plant-based packaging has returned to the soil to start again. Much better for the environment, truly sustainable packaging.
